An Automation & AI Centre of Excellence, set up and run with you.
One list of what to automate next, one set of standards and one way to measure the results, so automation and AI grow across the company instead of in scattered pilots. We set up your Automation & AI Centre of Excellence (CoE), from the operating model and governance to a library of reusable bots and agents, run it with you, and hand it over to your own team whenever you want.
Who it’s for, and what to expect.
An automation Centre of Excellence (CoE), or Center of Excellence as it is spelt in the US, is the small team and the shared rules that decide what a company automates, how it is built, how it is kept secure and how its value is measured. It keeps one prioritised pipeline of ideas from every department, sets the standards every bot, workflow and AI agent follows, and reports the hours, errors and cycle times that change. Without one, automation tends to grow as scattered pilots that nobody owns once the person who built them moves on.
There are three common ways to organise it. A centralised CoE builds and runs every automation from one team: the easiest to control, but it can turn into a queue. A federated model puts builders in each department and keeps only a small team in the centre to set standards. A hybrid model keeps the platform, standards and governance in the centre and lets trained people in finance, HR or operations build within them. We help you choose the model that fits your size and how much control you need, and change it as automation grows; our guide to setting up an automation CoE compares the three in more detail.
We are automation specialists: we work with many companies and deploy automations for their finance, HR, operations and back-office teams, and across the client deployments we run, our automations remove up to 10,000 hours of manual work a day. We bring that experience to your CoE. We set it up and run it with you as a service (CoE as a service): our people run the pipeline, build and support the automations and report the results, while your people keep the decisions on what to automate and why. Whenever you want, we hand it over to your own team, with the standards, the bot and agent library, the runbooks and the training they need to run it themselves.
What's included
Pick the parts you need, and add more once the first one is working.
Operating model & governance
Centralised, federated or hybrid, with clear roles, decision rights and a steering group, and a simple way to approve, change and retire automations.
Automation pipeline & prioritisation
One list of ideas from every team, scored on volume, rules, risk and value, so the next workflow is chosen on evidence rather than on who asked loudest.
Standards, reusable components & a bot and agent library
Design and coding standards, naming, logging and error handling, plus reusable components and a library of bots and AI agents, so each new automation starts from tested parts.
Security, compliance & audit
Least-privilege access, credentials kept out of scripts, an audit trail for every run, and personal data handled with India’s DPDP Act and the GDPR in mind.
Citizen developers, training & handover
Training, templates and guardrails so people in finance, HR and operations can build simple automations, reviewed by the CoE before they go live, and a planned handover to your own team whenever you want.
Value tracking
Hours saved, errors and cycle times measured before and after each automation and reported to leadership in one place, so you can see what the programme returns.
How we work
Assess
What is automated today, who owns it, the ideas waiting and the rules you must follow.
Design
The operating model, governance, standards and how value will be measured, agreed and written down.
Set up
The pipeline, reusable components and the first automations through the new process, with training for the people who will build.
Run & hand over
Run with you as a service, with a regular review of the pipeline, the results and what to automate next, and handed over to your own team whenever you want.
How we run your CoE
What you can hold us to on every engagement.
Scope
API integrations, workflows, RPA bots and AI agents: built by our automation and AI development teams
- Governance in writingThe operating model, decision rights and a steering group agreed and written down, with a simple way to approve, change and retire automations.
- One scored pipelineEvery idea scored on volume, rules, risk and value, so the next workflow is chosen on evidence.
- Standards and reusable partsDesign and coding standards, naming, logging and error handling, and a library of tested bots and AI agents.
- Security and auditLeast-privilege access, credentials kept out of scripts, an audit trail for every run, and personal data handled with India’s DPDP Act and the GDPR in mind.
- Handover whenever you wantYour people work alongside ours, then lead, then run it, with the pipeline, library, runbooks and dashboards in your own accounts.
Questions about automation CoEs
A small team and a shared set of rules that decide what a company automates, how it is built and secured, and how its value is measured. In the US it is usually spelt Center of Excellence. A CoE keeps one prioritised list of what to automate next, sets the standards every bot, workflow and AI agent follows, and reports the hours, errors and cycle times that change. Read our guide to setting up an automation CoE.
Not for your first workflow or two. A CoE starts to pay off when several teams want automation at once, when automations built by different people need the same standards and support, or when leadership asks what the programme returns. If you have a handful of bots that only one person understands, or a list of ideas nobody is choosing between, it is time to set one up.
An RPA CoE looks after software bots that work the screens of other systems. An AI CoE usually focuses on models, data and the responsible use of AI. An Automation & AI CoE covers both, plus API integrations and workflows, because most real processes need all of them: APIs where they exist, RPA where they don’t and AI to read documents and prepare work for a person to confirm. One pipeline and one set of standards cover the lot.
In hours of manual work removed, errors and cycle times, measured for each automation before it goes live and again afterwards, and reported in one place. Across the client deployments we run, our automations remove up to 10,000 hours of manual work a day; what your CoE delivers depends on your own volumes and processes, which is why we measure it in your numbers.
Yes. We set the CoE up and run it with you as a service: our people manage the pipeline, build and support the automations and report the results, while your people keep the decisions on what to automate and why. Whenever you want, we hand it over to your own team.
Yes, whenever you want, and we plan for it from the start. Your people work alongside ours, then take the lead with ours beside them, then run the CoE on their own. They keep everything it runs on, from the pipeline, standards and bot and agent library to the runbooks and dashboards, in your own accounts. If you want, we stay on call for support afterwards.
With a conversation about what you have automated so far, the ideas waiting and the rules you must follow. We then assess where you are and propose an operating model, the first standards and the first workflows to put through the new process. The scope and fee are agreed in writing before the work starts.
