Local SEO for B2B companies in Delhi NCR

Buyers in Delhi NCR look for suppliers by place: “IT company Gurugram”, “AMC service provider Noida”. Here is how to earn a spot in those results without breaking Google’s rules, and how to count the calls and enquiries it brings.

How local search works for a B2B company

Search “SEO company Gurugram” and Google usually shows a map and a short list of Business Profiles above the ordinary results. Google says three things decide that list: relevance (how well a profile matches the search), distance (how far the business is from the searcher or the place they typed) and prominence (how well known it is, including links and reviews).

Nobody can pay for a better local ranking, and you cannot move closer to every buyer. So the work is relevance and prominence: a complete profile, pages that answer buyers’ questions, the same details everywhere and genuine reviews. It applies whether clients visit your office or you go to them, as maintenance contractors and IT support firms do.

Google Business Profile, done properly

Your Business Profile is the most important local asset you have, and it is free. Many are half-filled, or quietly break a rule that can get them suspended. Work through this list.

  1. Claim and verify itGoogle picks the method (phone, SMS, email, video or postcard) and you cannot change it. For video, show outside signage, something branded and access to staff-only areas. In an office tower, film the building’s name board and your own door.
  2. Use your real-world nameIt must match your signboard and stationery. “Acme Facility Services”, not “Acme Best AMC Company Gurgaon”. Place names, keywords and taglines in the name break Google’s guidelines.
  3. Get the address right, or hide itA rented mailing address you do not work from (a virtual office) is not eligible, and a service-area business can list a virtual office only if it is staffed during business hours. A co-working office counts only if it has clear signage and, during business hours, receives customers and is staffed by your own people. If clients never visit but you go to them, hide the address and set a service area instead: up to 20 areas, within about two hours’ drive of your base.
  4. Choose few, specific categoriesPick what completes “this business IS a…”, not “HAS a…”, and use as few as describe your core business.
  5. Use a number you controlA local number under your direct control, not a central call centre, and the same one on your website.
  6. Fill in everything elseHours, a plain description, your services, photos of the real office and team, and your website. Once verified, the Profile Strength tool shows what is missing.
  7. Keep ownership in-houseA profile has one primary owner. Keep that with a company account, never an employee’s Gmail or your agency. Agencies can be managers: they do the work but cannot add or remove users or delete the profile.

Chat and call history were removed from Business Profiles on 31 July 2024. Calls from the profile still reach you, but the profile keeps no log of them, so count them on your own phone system.

NAP consistency, and Gurugram versus Gurgaon

NAP means name, address and phone. Google builds its picture of you from more than your profile: it also reads your website, licensed third-party data and what users contribute. An old address on a directory is how wrong details creep back.

Write your NAP once, in one exact form, and copy it into your website footer and structured data, your Google, Bing and Apple listings, LinkedIn, the directories you choose, and your proposals and invoices. NCR addresses make this harder than it should be: “Golf Course Ext. Rd”, “Golf Course Extension Road” and “GCER” are one road, and sector numbers and landmarks come and go. Pick one version and paste it. Do not retype it.

Gurugram or Gurgaon?

The Haryana government renamed Gurgaon as Gurugram in 2016, but many buyers and older listings still say Gurgaon. Treat it as one place with two names:

  • Use Gurugram in your address everywhere: profile, website, structured data and directories.
  • Mention the old name once in natural copy, such as “our office in Gurugram (Gurgaon)”.
  • Do not build separate Gurugram and Gurgaon pages. Near-identical pages made for similar searches are what Google’s spam policies call doorway abuse.
  • Never add a place name to the business name on your profile.

Your profile’s performance report lists the search terms people used to find you, so you can see which spelling your buyers type.

Location pages that are not doorways

A location page earns its place when something real sits behind it: an office, a team or regular work in that city. Google’s spam policies give city pages that all funnel visitors to one page as an example of doorway abuse.

AspectA useful location pageA doorway page
Why it existsA real office, team or steady work thereA search term someone wanted
What it saysAddress and map if clients visit, who works there, local services, visitor notesEvery other city page, name swapped
ProofReal local projects, named with permissionGeneric claims, stock photos
Structured dataLocalBusiness for that addressCopied markup, sometimes a virtual address

If you serve Noida, Faridabad and Ghaziabad from one Gurugram office, one honest “Areas we serve” page beats four thin ones. And make every service page answer what buyers ask before calling: scope, timelines, how pricing works and response times.

Reviews: asking ethically, replying well

Google says more reviews and positive ratings can help your local ranking. In B2B they also do the job a reference call used to. The rules are strict:

  • Allowed: asking customers to review their genuine experience.
  • Not allowed: any incentive, such as a discount or free service visit, for posting, changing or removing a review.
  • Not allowed: asking only clients you expect to be happy, or discouraging negative reviews.
  • Not allowed: reviews from anyone with a conflict of interest, including current or former employees.

In India, the Bureau of Indian Standards has published IS 19000:2022 on collecting, moderating and publishing online reviews. It covers any organisation that publishes reviews online, including sellers who collect them from their own customers.

  1. Pick the momentAfter something the client can judge: a go-live, a handover, a breakdown fixed fast.
  2. Ask the right personThe plant head or IT manager who worked with you, not a purchase desk.
  3. Send the short linkCopy the review link or QR code from your profile and send it by email or WhatsApp. Never draft the review for them.
  4. Ask everyoneEvery finished project gets the same request, whatever you expect them to say.

Reply where you can add something: short, specific, by name, never the same line twice. For a negative review, acknowledge it, apologise where you were wrong, take it offline and never reveal contract terms in public. Case studies on your own site, written with the client’s permission, do the same job for buyers who never open Maps; our content marketing team writes them with your people.

B2B directories worth being on in India

More listings do not mean more leads. Choose the places your buyers look, complete each one with the same NAP, and keep every login on record so listings survive staff changes.

LocalBusiness and Organization schema

Structured data states facts about your business in code Google reads directly. Organization markup helps Google tell you apart from similarly named firms; LocalBusiness markup describes a place you can be found.

MarkupWhere it goesWhat to fill in
OrganizationHome or About page, oncename, legalName, url, logo, address, telephone, email, sameAs (official profiles)
LocalBusinessEach real location pagename and address (required), telephone, that page’s url, opening hours, geo to five decimal places

Use the most specific LocalBusiness subtype for your trade, and keep the address identical to your profile and footer. Do not mark up your own testimonials for stars: Google treats reviews a business controls about itself as self-serving and will not show stars for them, even from an embedded Google reviews widget.

Tracking calls and form leads

Rankings are a means. What matters is how many calls and enquiries local search brought, and how many became business. Set this up first, so you have a baseline.

  1. Read the performance reportFor verified profiles it shows views, search terms, taps on the call button, website clicks and direction requests, including activity from Google Ads. Download it monthly.
  2. Tag the website linkAdd UTM parameters to the profile’s link (for example utm_source=google, utm_medium=organic, utm_campaign=business_profile), lowercase and never changed, so profile visits show as their own source in Google Analytics.
  3. Mark leads as key eventsIn GA4, make form submissions, click-to-call and WhatsApp taps key events, the name Analytics now uses for what it called conversions.
  4. Link the profile to GA4Under Admin, Product links, Google Business Profile links. Profile calls, clicks and directions then sit beside your website data.
  5. Report leads, not positionsLog calls in your CRM, ask every enquiry how they found you, and each month compare calls, forms, qualified leads and won deals by source.

If you also run Google Ads, the same key events can steer your campaigns; our paid ads team sets up GA4, Tag Manager and offline conversion import so every lead is counted.

A 90-day plan

  1. Weeks 1–2: auditThe profile against Google’s guidelines, your NAP across your top fifteen listings, your pages, and whether calls and forms are counted at all.
  2. Weeks 3–4: foundationsFix the profile and its ownership, every NAP mismatch, your structured data and your tracking.
  3. Month 2: pages and reviewsImprove service pages, add location pages only where something real sits behind them, and ask every finished client for a review.
  4. Month 3: listings and rhythmComplete the directories that matter, reply to reviews weekly and run your first monthly lead report.

Our SEO team in Gurugram works in a similar order: an audit, a plan, fixes and content every week, and a monthly report on rankings, traffic and leads. Real growth usually takes three to six months. Want a second opinion on your profile first? Book a call.

Common questions

How long does local SEO take to work?

Fixing your profile and NAP can change what buyers see within weeks. Real growth in rankings and enquiries usually takes three to six months, as reviews, pages and mentions build up.

Should we write Gurugram or Gurgaon on our website?

Use Gurugram, the official name since 2016, in your address and structured data. Mention Gurgaon once in normal copy and do not make a separate page for each spelling.

Can a B2B company without a walk-in office have a Google Business Profile?

Only if you serve clients at their premises, as a service-area business. Then hide your address and list up to 20 areas you serve. A firm that works with clients only remotely is not eligible. A virtual office is not eligible unless it is staffed during business hours.

Is it allowed to ask clients for Google reviews?

Yes, for a genuine experience. Google forbids incentives, asking only happy clients, discouraging negative reviews and reviews from employees or anyone with a conflict of interest.
